- Describe the revenue drivers you currently include in your business concept for this class. Revenue drivers are the different ways you make money.
- The ways this that Smiley's Delivery Service will make money is by the service fee we would charge for the delivering of the department store products to the customers. The service charge will be a percentage of the final cost.
- Describe what kind of product offering you believe should be next. What's the next thing your customers want?
- After getting the delivery service started, I do not believe we should extend into the food business. I believe there is too much competition in Gainesville for that installation. However, I do believe we could begin to get groceries from grocery stores and get the list that people need and go get there gorcerie and delivery it to them within the hour to two hours.
- Describe how this "next" thing will enhance your existing product/service offering. Does it improve the user experience, does it increase customer switching costs, does it foster customer loyalty, etc.?
- This next thing will extend our service to another basic need that people need. Grocery shopping is just as much of a hassle as department store shopping for people without cars or time. This service extension would help our name continue to grow while offering more services.
- Go to Amazon and try to find a product that is similar to the one you want to offer next. Describe the product. Include a picture of the product.
- Amazon itself is a similar product. It is a service that delivers items at a good price. They are even beginning to use droin deliveries.
-

- What are the customer reviews for the product? What, exactly, do customers not like about the product? What do they like about it?
- Amazon prime members love the service and prices of Amazon. With the drones, Amazon is beginning to be able to have same day deliveries. This gives people time utility, place utility, and price utility.
- Describe what design/usability changes you'd make to the product.
- What I think the biggest change we would need is an interface change on the website. I have been told that sometimes, bigger items like televisions can be hard to choose from just by a picture. Maybe videos of them woukld help give a better display of how the televisions compare to each other.
- Describe why you think this product would make a good addition to your current product/service offering.
- The new service extension to groceries will give the business a wider span of customers and more consistent customers. On average, people go to the grocery store once a week while department stores are more irregular.

Hello there Brandon,
ReplyDeleteI like your idea I think it's great. I also like that you are being realistic basing your services on a percentage rate rather than a "fixed" flat rate. I've seen a few similar ideas with delivery services wanting to attempt flat rates, but I just don't think that's a great idea unless you have a huge volume of deliveries. If after a year or two your volume was great then obviously that would be a next step too. I also like your idea of the grocery delivery within a certain time window. I hope things work out well and wish you the best of luck! Check mine out if you have a chance: http://breident3003.blogspot.com/2016/03/the-amazon-whisperer.html
Hello Brandon,
ReplyDeleteComing from someone who buys a lot of groceries, but doesn't have a car, I can tell you this is an incredible idea and I'm already sold. It isn't likely that someone is in an incredible rush to get their groceries, so an hour or two delivery time is extremely reasonable, considering food delivery takes longer than that during rush hour traffic. I think it is smart that you adjust the price to how much food the customer is getting, it seems very fair that way. Have you thought about turning this idea into an app for more accessibility? Would it be over the phone or online? Great post and good job completing the exercise correctly and thoroughly!
Here is my post if you want to check it out:
